Special Women to Have Won the Nobel Prize with Their Remarkable Contributions

Jody Williams

American political activist Jody Williams is popular for her advocacy against landmines. Her most prominent push for this initiative was in El Salvador, where she got her feet wet carrying out aid work and spearheaded the launch of a global campaign against landmines. The Vermont-born peace activist got the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for her noteworthy efforts.

Apart from her push for the banning and clearing of anti-personnel landmines, Williams has been at the forefront of campaigning and championing human rights defense, especially for women. She’s also greatly put her mind, weight, and resources behind promoting a new understanding of today’s world security.
