Special Women to Have Won the Nobel Prize with Their Remarkable Contributions

Shirin Ebadi

Iranian political activist Shirin Ebadi became prominent with her push for children and women’s rights. Democracy and human rights activists has also pushed for the rights of refugees who’ve suffered greatly from their former country and the host state. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she has won several awards for it.

Ebadi was awarded the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize for her work, which also saw her establish the Defenders of Human Rights Center in Iran to lead the initiative. The former judge and lawyer has lectured and delivered speeches across the globe, which has also come with threats to her life.
