In Anbetracht seines Alters wurde seine von vielen Seiten kritisiert, jedoch ist der Schauspieler kein Unbekannter, wenn es um diese Art der Zusammenarbeit geht: im Laufe der Jahre, nachdem er seine Rolle als “Captain Kirk” abgelegt hatte, lieh er der NASA wiederholt sein Gesicht für Outreach-Aktivitäten.
