A Festive Holiday Dinner

While people in the rest of the world thought that convicted prisoners lived a horrible life in one of the most isolated jails in the world, things were different there before. For instance, this photograph of a prison cook who prepared a holiday feast for the prisoners at the Rock was taken on Christmas Day one year, and they all enjoyed the festivities.

This was Arthur “Doc” Barker’s jail record, which dates back to 1963. He belonged to the “Bloody Barkers” group and was Ma Barker’s son. While attempting to flee on his own, he was instantly shot and died immediately.
