In een ver verleden was Arjen Robben nog de jonge talentvolle speler die FC Groningen verliet en bij PSV een kans kreeg om zichzelf te bewijzen. Amper twee jaar later was hij echter de club ontgroeid en kon hij een goedbetalende transfer versieren naar Chelsea. Daarna werd hij nog eens overgenomen door Real Madrid en Bayern München, maar nam uiteindelijk afscheid bij de club waar alles begon, FC Groningen. Toen hij nog in Bayern München aan de slag was, wist hij al waar hij de laatste jaren van zijn carrière zou doorbrengen en liet daarom in 2014 een enorm huis bouwen in Groningen voor een slordige 1,1 miljoen euro. Het huis beschikt uiteraard over alle moderne snufjes om het hem en zijn gezin zo comfortabel mogelijk te maken. Door de vele verbouwingen en extraatjes, is het huis vast een veelvoud van de aankoopsom waard. Een leuke investering in ieder geval.
