Here are Some of the Most Iconic Grammy Moments of All Time

1959: The First Telecast on NBC

1959 was definitely a big year for the Grammys, as it was the first time the awards were held, and they were also held twice! Later that year, on November 29, the first Grammy Awards Telecast took place. It aired as an episode of the NBC anthology series, “NBC Sunday Showcase.”

The awards were hosted by Meredith Wilson, the famous writer behind the Broadway hit “The Music Man.” Frank Sitara, the standout artist this time, had been nominated in six categories for the first Grammys but only won one. This time, he won Album of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance for the album’s title track.
