1997: LeAnn Rimes Breaks Record

In 1997, the Grammys were back at Madison Square Garden in New York for the 36th annual awards ceremony. Babyface was undoubtedly the night’s biggest winner, with three awards. As impressive as it may have been, the spotlight was stolen by the Best New Artist Award that year.

LeAnn Rimes, a singer, songwriter, and actress, became the youngest person to win a Grammy. At the time, she was just 14 years of age, and she not only won one but two Grammys to start off her award collection. She got the award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
