Here are Some of the Most Iconic Grammy Moments of All Time

1972: Grammys in the East

On March 14, 1972, the 14th annual Grammy Awards were held. That year was special because it was held on the East Coast for the first time. They took place at the Felt Forum, or the Theatre at Madison Square Gardens, and were televised live in the U.S. by ABC after they had taken over the broadcasting rights in 1971.

The early ’70s had already proven to be the era of sensitive songwriting, and it was the same that year. Perhaps mentionable is Carole King, who was the night’s biggest winner, winning song of the year for “You’ve Got a Friend” and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
