L’acte de pèlerinage spirituel est un aspect commun à de nombreux systèmes culturels et religieux. On peut citer à ce titre le pèlerinage à La Mecque pour l’Islam, laquelle est entrepris par des millions de fidèles chaque année, avec l’intention d’être exaltée comme un Hadji.
Un pèlerinage similaire existe également au Tibet, et plus spécialement dans la ville de Lhassa. Les bouddhistes entreprennent tous les ans en parcourant parfois des milliers de kilomètres à cette fin. D’autres vont beaucoup plus loin en se déplaçant uniquement avec leurs mains et leurs genoux et avec le ventre contre le sol pour couvrir tous ces kilomètres, comme le fait l’homme sur cette photo.
