St. Petersburg’s Gem

Called the Venice of the North, St. Petersburg in Russia boasts stunning architecture such as this intricate structure on the right that is called the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, just one of the churches in the location that can take guests’ breath away.

The mouthful name of this structure, designed by Alfred Parland, came from Alexander II’s assassination in the area in 1881. Its style makes it stand out from the Classical and Baroque architectures surrounding it. construction of this church, which drew inspiration from Vladimir Cathedral, started in 1883. It wasn’t spared from World War II because it sustained damages as well.
