Greasers – New York, Circa 1950

Most of us have been introduced to the concept of the greaser in the ’70s, when the hugely popular musical “Grease,” starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, hit the cinemas. But the real-life greaser emerged in the ’50s. The greasers were mostly young adults who resided in urban areas and came from humble, working-class families.
