What the Heck Is That? Ordinary Things That Look Insane Microscopic!

Amoebas Move like Blobs on a Mission

When closely examined, an amoeba looks like a gooey little shape-shifter with no sense of personal space. It oozes around by stretching parts of its body—called pseudopodia—like a slow-motion slime dance. There’s no set shape, no symmetry, just pure chaotic movement. But this blobby wanderer is smarter than it seems.

It can sense its surroundings, hunt tiny food, and even engulf prey by wrapping itself around it. Inside, things stay busy with a visible nucleus and moving vacuoles handling digestion like a one-cell restaurant. It’s squishy, weird, and definitely not lazy. Amoebas may look simple, but they’ve got a serious single-cell game.
