Lice Are Tiny Hair Claws with Legs
Seen through a microscope, lice trade their reputation for full-on weirdness. Each one looks like a mini armored bug with six stubby legs that end in curved claws—perfect for grabbing onto hair strands like a fitness enthusiast climbing a jungle gym. The body is flat and oval-shaped, with a mouth built to pierce the skin and sip blood like it’s no big deal.
Up close, their whole setup screams “built for clinging.” Fine hairs cover their surface, and their eyes are nonexistent because they navigate by touch. Gross, yes, but also surprisingly specialized. It’s not pretty, but lice definitely know how to hold on tight.
