From the late ’40s to the mid-’50s, the United States was graced with a new genre of music known as rock and roll. What made it so interesting was that it resulted from the combination of a wide variety of popular music genres, from jazz and boogie-woogie to country music and even gospel!

Due to its simple but contagious beat, frenetic pace, and blues-inspired chord progressions, the sound of rock and roll swooped the nation in the ’50s and proved to be particularly popular among White middle-class youngsters.
