It was then the trend cycles we know today started dominating popular culture, giving way to the mass production of cheap attire that went out of style in a matter of years.

The rise of the “follow the trend” lifestyle was also caused by the mindset of the youth in the ’60s, determined to reject the traditions of older generations. While all these youngsters wanted was to express themselves, the mass production of clothing is now responsible for ten percent of total global carbon emissions.
