These quirky characters are the mascots of “Kids’ Kountry Super Fun Store,” a big box retail outlet that was popular in Houston during the ’70s. From the left to right, we have Hugh the Shoe, Connie Cone, Peter Panda, and Dirty Bird, and all four were named the “Kharacters.”

But you’re probably wondering what the Kharacters were doing in this photo from 1973. Well, The Super Fun Store partnered with Southwest Airlines to fly them down to Houston to promote the opening of a new store. And these photos at the Houston Hobby Airport were taken for marketing. But imagine how cool it would be for these characters to make a comeback.
