Als bij toeval werd Marcus Schenkenberg ontdekt als model, toen hij in Venice Beach aan het rolschaatsen was en de aandacht van fotograaf Barry King trok. Zijn loopbaan werd gelanceerd met zijn modellenwerk voor Calvin Klein, maar hij poseerde ook voor heel wat andere grote namen. Schenkenberg at echter wel van meerdere walletjes want naast model was hij ook actief als schrijver, zanger, acteur en mocht hij zich af en toe ook op tv vertonen. Naast zijn internationale bekendheid als één van de grootste mannelijke supermodellen, was hij ook enige tijd verloofd met Pamela Anderson en is hij voorvechter van dierenrechten.
