Special Women to Have Won the Nobel Prize with Their Remarkable Contributions

Tawakkol Karman

Yemeni journalist Tawakkol Karman is well-known for her involvement in numerous demonstrations and critical actions, the majority of which are prohibited by the Yemeni regime. This fearless woman has been arrested and threatened with death several times, but she never gives up on the fact that she leads a group of “Women Journalists Without Chains.” It’s a movement she founded that promotes women’s democratic rights and freedom of expression.

Karman became an international figure in 2011 when she participated in the Yemeni Uprising and also won a Nobel Peace Prize. The human rights activist became the second Muslim woman and the first Arab to win the prize.
