Dressel ha vinto 2 ori olimpici e 19 ori iridati, detiene il record mondiale nei 100 farfalla in vasca lunga e 50 in stile libero, 100 farfalla e 100 misti in vasca corta. Un atleta dalle doti eccezionali, molto competitivo nello stile libero, a rana, nel delfino e nel misto. La sua straordinaria potenza emerge fin da bambino quando mostra un talento nel nuoto che non può essere ignorato. Il nuotatore infatti inizia il suo percorso sportivo mentre frequenta ancora la scuola, per poi arrivare ai Giochi Olimpici di Rio del 2016. La consacrazione definitiva arriva però a Budapest nel 2017 quando stravince alla grande sotto gli occhi attenti e increduli del pubblico e dei suoi stessi colleghi.
