I SUPERSTITI
In questa foto si vedono alcuni superstiti dell’immane disastro del 15 aprile. Molte persone per salvarsi dall’affondamento della nave si gettarono in acqua ma la temperatura era gelida per cui perirono di ipotermia. In pochi riuscirono a salire sulle scialuppe ma perirono lo stesso per il freddo gelido. I soccorsi da parte di altre navi giunsero solo molte ore dopo l’incidente per cui la gente in ipotermia non sopravvisse ugualmente. I fortunati sopravvissuti furono davvero pochi rispetto al numero di persone che si era imbarcata sul Titanic qualche giorno prima.
