The Top Christmas Candy In Your State

CandyStore.com
Are you ready to start buying Christmas candy to give as a holiday gift or fill all those decorative bowls around your house? Well, make sure you pick up some that your visiting friends and family will love. And now you can! CandyStore.com, one of the biggest online bulk candy stores, has released a map showing which Christmas candies rank as most popular in each U.S. state. The interactive map is built from both a survey of 23,000 customers nationwide and annual holiday candy sales. Then, the information was cross-referenced with data from candy manufactures and distributors. Pretty extensive!
The big winner this year? Peppermint Bark! The candy, a mix of chocolate and peppermint pieces, ranked number one in fourteen states, including California, Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Believe it or not, only six states had candy canes ranked as their favorite Christmas candy. That’s right! Even stranger, five stated put Starburst’s “Merry Mix” on the top of their list. While it’s not precisely quintessential Christmas candy, it sure sounds good!
Of course, you’re probably wondering: what are people’s least favorite holiday treats? Well, you’re in luck! CandyStore.com also released the least popular Christmas candy. And some of the choices might surprise you…
America’s Least Favorite Holiday Treats

Interestingly, peppermint bark, which ranked number one in 14 states, also ranked number ten in the “Worst Christmas Candy” survey. Chocolate oranges, ribbon candy, non-peppermint candy canes, Peeps, old-fashioned hard candy mix, Lifesavers Storybooks, reindeer corn (a Christmas version of candy corn), cheery cordials, and Christmas nougat made up the other nine. Apparently, candy corn has had a particularly tough year. “Candy corn is in decline across the country, losing key candy corn states of Delaware, New Hampshire and Rhode Island as well,” CandyStore.com reported.
That’s not the only interesting Christmas candy facts the bulk candy store shared. “93% of people gift chocolate and candy for the winter holidays,” the service stated. Also, did you know that over 1.76 billion (yes, with a b) candy canes are produced every year? That’s right! Meanwhile, “72% of people eat a candy cane starting on the straight end, the rest start on the curved end,” according to the site. If you love candy canes, make sure to celebrate Candy Cane Day on December 26!
Not a Christmas candy person? No worries! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner…
