1978: Two Songs of the Year!

As is the norm, music fans expect that the songs chosen for the Best Song of the Year award would withstand the test of time and that only one song would win. However, at the 20th annual Grammys, hosted by John Denver, voters that year made history by failing to settle on a winner, something that had not been experienced at the awards until then.

The two gramophones for the greatest honor that night went to Barbra Streisand and Paul Williams’ “Evergreen,” which was the theme song for “A Star is Born,” and Debby Boone’s “You Light Up My Life.”
