In 1990, Mona Grudt became the first—and only—Miss Norway to win Miss Universe, earning the nickname “The Beauty Queen from the Land of the Midnight Sun.” But it didn’t take long for her to beam up to pop culture fame.
Like Angela Visser before her, she made a cameo on an iconic 1990s show, appearing in an episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” as a stunning alien ambassador. After her pageant days, Mona worked as a magazine editor, hosted “Norway’s Next Top Model,” and became a go-to figure in the country’s fashion scene. She also launched an eco-friendly clothing line.
