Na zijn overwinning bij ‘De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland’ in 2012, en meerdere hitsingles later, deed Douwe Bob Nederland eer aan op het Eurovisie Song Festival met het nummer “Slow Down”. Ondanks zijn bereikte roem, was het een eenvoudige Biro die hem vaak door de straten zag cruisen. Echter, in 2014 koos hij voor een grotere investering in mobiliteit door een vintage wagen, een Austin Healy, te kopen, een aankoop die hem zo’n €80.000 kostte. Deze klassieke auto is misschien niet gemaakt voor de snelheid, maar biedt Douwe Bob de perfecte snelheid om te genieten van rustige ritten door de stad met zijn twee dochters.
