Met een illustere voetballoopbaan die begon bij NEC, bracht Jasper Cillessen zijn aanzienlijke doelmanstalent vervolgens naar Ajax. Het financiële kantelpunt in zijn carrière kwam echter toen hij overstapte naar FC Barcelona, waar zijn jaarinkomen steeg tot een intense 1 miljoen euro. Een interessante bijkomstigheid van zijn tijd bij Barcelona was de club’s deal met Audi, waardoor spelers van een selectie aan voertuigen konden kiezen. Cillessen koos voor een bescheiden, maar toch luxueuze Audi Q7, ter waarde van 65.000 euro, een relatief nederige keuze vergeleken met de autokeuzes van sommige van zijn collega-voetballers. Onbepaald blijft of hij deze wagen had mogen behouden na zijn volgende transfer naar Valencia.
