Geert Wilders zijn politieke reis begon in 1990 met een baan als fractiemedewerker en speechschrijver bij de VVD. Na niet volledig zijn weg hierin gevonden te hebben, nam hij in 2004 afscheid om zijn eigen onafhankelijke fractie in de Tweede Kamer te beginnen. Sindsdien heeft hij zich ontpopt tot de leider van de PVV, waarin hij vaak de aandacht trekt met zijn polariserende uitspraken en controversiële ideeën. Vanwege de controverse en bedreigingen die volgen uit zijn vaak provocatieve retoriek, heeft Wilders ervoor gekozen zijn Audi TT thuis te laten en zich nu te verplaatsen in een bepantserde BMW 7-serie, omwille van zijn veiligheid.
