Nadat Eric Clapton onder de zorg van zijn grootouders werd gelaten door zijn moeder en de passie voor muziek van zijn oma mee kreeg, groeide hij uit tot een rockmuzikant van wereldformaat. Hij wordt aanzien als één van de beste gitaristen ter wereld en scoorde tal van nummer één hits. Hij beschikt over een vermogen van ongeveer 250 miljoen euro, terwijl zijn muziek nog steeds heel wat royalties blijft opleveren. Eric Clapton is niet iemand die graag met zijn centen gaat zwaaien of gekke dingen aankoopt, want hij woont al vele tientallen jaren in Ewhurst in Engeland. Zijn villa in Italiaanse stijl werd gebouwd in 1910 en werd erkend als een beschermd monument. Het pand kreeg de naam Hurtwood Edge mee. Daarnaast bezit de muzikant momenteel ook nog een woning in Antigua.
