A World Away
When Marchan and Wolfe started talking, the young woman still lived just outside of Quezon City, in the suburb of Manila. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Wolfe worked alongside his father, building bridges, streets, trails, and the like in state parks. After a few years of working, Wolfe had quite a tidy bit of savings in the bank. That’s when an idea came to mind: he could visit Marchan!
Just a few weeks later, in May 2013, Wolfe found himself on a plane to the Philippines! “I knew I was taking a big risk. I had never traveled alone, let alone to a foreign country before and I was meeting people I didn’t know or even knew really existed,” Wolfe said to People Magazine.
