When Altered Carbon debuted in 2018, it seemed Netflix had another massive hit on its hands. The science-fiction show, based on the novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan, was a perfect blend of cyberpunk future and detective mystery. However, season two failed to make the same impact on fans, with some calling it “awful.” Soon enough, the end came for Altered Carbon.
While the streaming company cancelled Altered Carbon amidst the coronavirus lockdown, it’s not the pandemic that led to its ending. Instead, the company said it was a matter of “viewership vs. cost renewal review process.” Which, given the poor response to season two, makes sense.
