Stanley Matthews, 39 Jahre und 145 Tage, England
Sir Stanley Matthews war ein englischer Rechtsaußen, der am 01. Februar 1915 das Licht der Welt erblickte und am 23. Februar 2000 mit 85 Jahren verstarb. Insgesamt sah man den Engländer in drei Spielen bei zwei verschiedenen Weltmeisterschaften (1950 und 1954).
Matthews, der sogar einmal den Ballon d’Or gewann, hatte sein letztes Spiel bei einer WM am 26.06.1954, als Uruguay die Three Lions mit 4:2 bezwang. Lediglich eine Torvorlage kann der Außenspieler in den Statistiken verbuchen. Weitere Erfolge von ihm waren der englische Pokalsieg und die zweifache Auszeichnung als Spieler der Saison. Bis zu seinem Karriereende 1965 kickte er für Stoke City.
