Hilário, 37 Jahre und 131 Tage, Portugal
Der am 19.03.1939 in Mosambik geborene Portugiese ist einer der unauffälligen Spieler in unserer Liste. Hilário wurde schon mit 20 Jahren in den Kader der portugiesischen Nationalelf aufgenommen, nahm in seiner Karriere jedoch nur an der WM 1996 in England teil.
Hier war er dann aber in allen sechs Spielen über jeweils 90 Minuten auf dem Feld und konnte sich am Ende über einen guten dritten Platz freuen. Das Spiel um Platz Drei am 28.07.1966 gegen die damalige Sowjetunion war zugleich sein letztes WM-Spiel (2:1). Mit einem Alter von 37 Jahren und 131 Tagen schrieb er sich trotzdem in die Geschichtsbücher, unter die ältesten WM-Spieler ein.
