Fast-food giant Burger King may reign over burgers, but they have now decided to beef up their chicken game! They are not only coming out with new Ghost Pepper Chicken Nuggets, but also meatless nuggets for vegetarians.

Last week, fast-food brand Burger King made quite the announcement: it will become the first quick-service restaurant to test plant-based nuggets from Impossible Foods. Previously, Impossible and Burger King worked on the Impossible Whopper, which debuted in 2019. However, while the nuggets will come solely from plant material, the chain clarified that they are "cooked in the same oil as meat and cheese products."
"This isn't the first time we've teamed up with Impossible to make waves in the industry," Ellie Doty, Burger King North America chief marketing officer, said in a statement. "So, it's only fitting we're the first global QSR (quick-service restaurant) to test the Impossible Nuggets. We're excited to hear what our guests in the test markets think of this latest innovation."
Burger King will soon test Impossible Nuggets in three markets: Des Moines, Boston, and Miami. Of course, many other fast-food chains have also released plant-based chicken in recent years. In 2019, KFC debuted Beyond Fried Chicken while Impossible Foods brought their own nuggets to Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, and Safeway this year.

Ahead of Halloween, Burger King has a spicy new treat for fans! In October, the brand will roll out new Ghost Pepper Chicken Nuggets nationwide. That's right! For those who don't know, ghost peppers are some of the spiciest peppers around. However, when chefs just add a few slices to a batter and deep fry it, they lose most of their spiciness. Don't get us wrong: they retain quite a bit of heat! But people who enjoy hot sauce should be fine!
Recently, the company has been releasing plenty of limited items that do not stick around. Those who are part of the chain's Royal Perks loyalty program can order the nuggets early. They could start ordering the Ghost Pepper Chicken Nuggets through the BK app on Wednesday, they will debut on nationwide menus on Monday.
For those who don't know, members earn 10 Crowns for each $1 spent at participating restaurants. You can sign up at Bk.com/signup. And you probably should sign up! Burger King also said this marks the first time they will gift members "an exclusive first look to a brand-new menu item, and it won't be the last."
