What's IKEA's best-selling item? It's probably not what you think: it's actually the brand's delicious meatballs! That's right! So, the company decided to create something special for all its Swedish Meatballs - a meatball-scented candle!

Special Meatball-Scented Candle

Food News 2021

IKEA

Many don't know that IKEA's founder, Ingvar Kamprad, also owned various restaurants in the 1950s. When he opened the first IKEA location, Kampard decoded to add in a place to eat. After all, he always said, "it's difficult to do business with someone on an empty stomach." A few decades after the first eatery opened, HUVUDROLL meatballs appeared on the menu. For those who have never had the delicious meatballs, they are traditional Swedish meatballs (of course) served with an ALLEMANSRATTEN Cream Sauce or lingonberry jam.

These days, more IKEA customers buy the world-famous meatballs than tables, cabinets, or other furniture products! "We sell more meatballs than any other IKEA product in the range," Michael la Cour, the Managing Director of IKEA Food Services, said. So, to commemorate its best-selling product, the company decided to launch an extraordinary, albeit bizarre, product: a meatball-scented candle. That's right! After all, you can usually smell the delicious balls of meat from anywhere in the store - and customers love the smell!

Incredibly, IKEA plans on releasing even more iconic smells from its store...

Experience In A Box

In case you did not know, there are a lot of people from all around the world who love the Swedish furniture seller. In fact, the meatball-scented candle comes as a part of the "IKEA Store in a Box," a limited-edition collection of "the most indelible sensory experiences of going to IKEA." Currently, fans have no idea what else will come in the box. However, a spokesperson from the store told Food & Wine Magazine that the box will be "a surprise and a delight."

The box is part of the company's celebration of the 10th anniversary of its loyalty program, IKEA Family. Want to win a box? Well, you have a chance to enter the competition from August 6 to the 22. A select number of winners will receive an IKEA Store in a Box for free! Reading this afterward or didn't win? Well, don't worry! You no longer need to go furniture shopping to enjoy the incredible, mouthwatering meatballs. Thankfully, IKEA sells the meatballs in frozen form both on its website and in stores. Pair them with mashed potatoes and your choice of sauce for the full experience at home. The best part of all? The meatballs even come in a vegan version as well for those who don't eat meat!

However, if it's still before August 22, you can still win! And you don't need to have been a part of the IKEA Family loyalty program, which is free to join, for very long. Sign up today, enter, and you might have a meatball-scented candle before you know it!
