Sometimes, hiding in plain sight is the best thing to do. Just ask this KFC restaurant in Spain that recently went viral. The location literally disguised itself as another store - an IKEA! And it worked out perfectly!

Where IKEA Is

KFC, well-known to carry one of the most delicious fried chicken in the American style, is very popular in the United States. When it comes to other countries, it's a bit harder to find customers, especially for the brand-new spot. So, the spot in Majorca, in the Balearic island’s Polígono de Son Malferit, Spain, decided to create an interesting plan. The thing is, this area is well-known as "where IKEA is." KFC Spain took advantage of that and used IKEA's main characteristics for ultra-promotion. First of all, the billboard boasted an array of the shop's colors – yellow and blue. Secondly, it had an oval logo with the name inside. As soon as passers-by saw that image, they instantly thought of IKEA, and rushed in! Thankfully, most of them took the joke well, ordering a few servings of wings right away.

Later, KFC Spain also shared a photo of the billboard on the official Twitter page. IKEA Spain knew how to fight back. “Thank you KFC for telling people where the #ChickenChicken is: on our HUVUDROLL meatballs," it responded. Moreover, the tweet had an image of a meatball attached to it. The funny interaction gained even more attention from the internet users. Soon, the tweets garnered over 6,000 likes and reposts, in just a day! To be fair, IKEA and KFC are not on bad terms, but some users wanted to see a continuation of the small quarrel.

KFC And IKEA Interacting

In the end, many noted how clever it was for both establishments to interact. That’s a perfect marketing strategy for KFC and IKEA! “The opening of this new restaurant is an opportunity to get closer to the inhabitants of this region,” KFC Spain wrote in the statement afterward. “That’s why we try to find local insights that allow us to be part of their everyday life.” Fans of fried chicken were happy to see this update, to say the least. From countless responses, there were a lot of clever and hilarious ones. “Top 10 most epic crossovers in history,” one of the Twitter users said.

“I wonder how much you get paid on such a cool job,” another tweeted, and the third commenter supported, “I'd also like to know. And how do you submit that job application and attend the job interview?” KFC Spain was already known for promoting memes. If you go to its official Twitter page, there's a lot of popular ones like Bingus and Floppa, WWE Wrestling, DragonBall Z, funny cats, as well as videos from TikTok. As one of the followers stated, the account is probably managed by several people. Furthermore, there must be a whole marketing team behind the viral memes.

All we ask for is more memes. Keep bringing the laughs, and customers will come to visit the fast-food spot – at least to ask about the job interview!
